Bio

​

John Boaz is an award winning photographer who graduated from Birmingham City University in 2019 with a degree in Visual Communication (Photography). Based in Northamptonshire UK.

​

In January 2025 it was announced that John was a winner in the Portrait of Britain Vol 7 portrait award by British Journal of Photography. His portrait was also chosen to be the front cover of the book.

​

In August 2025 John Boaz had two of his portraits featured in the Saatchi Gallery in London as part of The Royal Photographic Society IPE 166 exhibition. The two portraits are from his ongoing photo series Rivers Of Living Water, photographing Christianity in Britain.

John's work will be exhibited in October this year in the Photopolis Photo Festival in Agrinio in Greece. A selection of portraits from his current ongoing photo series Rivers Of Living Water will be displayed.

'It seems like John is constantly gripped by moments of beauty and poetry, creating contemplative work that perhaps seems closer to the practice of painting than the networked form of photography that has become ubiquitous today. In a sublime, almost pastoral moment, his photographic eye was awakened'. “I was originally captivated by photography on a beautiful evening with the golden hour-light streaming through rolling fields whilst deer were grazing on the field,” John tells It’s Nice That. “I asked one of my friends if I could use their camera.
